REQUEST A QUOTEThe SATURN Series Seismic Switch is a self-contained earthquake detection and control device that watches ground motion around the clock and operates relay contacts the moment shaking exceeds a user-set level. A maintenance-free tri-axial digital solid-state sensor measures acceleration on three orthogonal axes (X, Y and Z), detects both the vertical P-wave and the horizontal S-wave, and drives Low and High seismic alarm outputs through dry, isolated relay contacts, plus a common fault alarm. It is built for industrial, commercial and institutional seismic shutdown and alarm duty: process and motor shutdown, gas and utility isolation, elevator seismic recall, electronic doors, solenoids and personnel alarms through existing PA systems.
Trigger setpoints are user-selectable from 0.025 g to 0.5 g on each axis, the frequency response is programmable to 1–10 Hz or 1–15 Hz, and the trigger response is selectable for ASCE 25-97, ASME A17.1 and CA3137. After a trip the switch stores and displays the Peak Ground Acceleration (PGA) in g for each axis, so the event and the system’s performance can be reviewed over RS-232C or USB.
