SENTINEL-GEO-MKII is a premium-quality accelerograph with an embedded triaxial velocimeter that was conceived for structural monitoring and seismology with budget-sensitive constraints.

HIGHLY PERFORMANT AND COST-EFFECTIVE
The onboard MEMS triaxial accelerometer which exhibits a dynamic range 85dB and a self-noise 20µg/√Hz can be synchronously sampled up to 250sps.

The embedded triaxial velocimeter sensor is made of three geophones electronically extended to 2 seconds, synchronously sampled at 24bit with a dynamic range that exceeds 120dB.

The contribution, in terms of performance, given by the combination of the two sensors (accelerometer and velocimeter) is considerable. In fact the greater sensitivity of the velocimeter provides better seismic information whereas the resolution of the accelerometer limits the latter and provides better results with strong motion events where the velocimeter would cause saturation.

The integrated memory bank (32 ÷ 256 GB) allows you to manage a ring-buffer for long continuous recordings as well as event data.

The data format is Binary and MiniSEED.

The system implements sophisticated trigger criteria (STA/LTA and threshold) that distinguishes false events (i.e. environment vibrations) from true seismic events.

The internal GNSS receiver allows you to create a network where all the instruments are synchronized with the absolute time.

EASY TO USE
You can connect to SENTINEL-GEO-MKII locally via network (LAN or WiFi) or, alternatively, remotely using the internal 4G modem (optional).

INTEGRATED UPS
SENTINEL-GEO-MKII is powered by an external DC source (9 ÷ 36 Vdc) and it is equipped with its own internal battery (LiPo) which can guarantee an autonomy of 5 hours in case of a blackout. The battery can easily be replaced. The internal 4G modem (optional) is backed up by the internal battery.

ROBUST
The instrument comes in an anodized aluminum case which is rugged and shock-resistant and thus suitable for field applications.

Jupiter is an innovative web-based software package designed for users seeking to manage all their Lunitek instruments network-wide. This becomes particularly essential when the network comprises a large number of units, making individual control challenging, if not impossible.

Jupiter presents a sleek user interface, facilitating interaction with the instruments, and enabling the monitoring, management, and configuration of a seismic or structural monitoring network comprised of Lunitek devices.

The post JUPITER appeared first on QuakeLogic.

Jupiter adeptly identifies all devices connected to the network, whether through VPN or WAN, eliminating the need to manually input IP addresses. It allows for the visualization and streaming of both data and the health status of the units, utilizing the miniSEED protocol.

Users have the capability to transmit a universal configuration to all network devices or issue common commands (start, stop, manual trigger, etc.), obviating the need for individual unit access.

Jupiter is proficient in aggregating data from the instruments and saving it in a local folder.

The software accommodates both built-in and third-party analysis scripts and can dispatch remote alarms upon the activation of specific events.

Powering Jupiter is Obspy Python, a specialized library for seismology, furnishing users with the flexibility to easily develop tailor-made analysis scripts.

By recording all six components of ground motion—including translational and rotational—the instrument enables precise detection of rotational earthquake modes, significantly improving the completeness and accuracy of seismic observations.

HIGH PERFORMANCE

Delivering a resolution of 6 × 10⁻⁸ rad/s at 1 Hz, the Tellus-R provides unmatched sensitivity across a 117 dB dynamic range and a frequency response of 0.033–50 Hz (optional 0.01–100 Hz). With an exceptionally low self-noise PSD of –125 dB (rel. 1 rad/s² Hz), it ensures ultra-quiet operation. Power efficiency is another advantage: consuming only 30 mA at 10–18 VDC, it outperforms traditional electro-mechanical and fiber-optic sensors. An integrated calibration input (1:1) allows for straightforward periodic verification without specialized external equipment.

ROBUST DESIGN

Built for long-term deployment in demanding field conditions, the Tellus-R is housed in hard-coated anodized aluminum with IP67 protection (IP68 optional). Compact and lightweight (Ø180 mm × 140 mm, 2 kg), it operates in any orientation, with a temperature range of –15 °C to +55 °C (optional –40 °C to +55 °C). A 3-meter rugged cable and PT06E-14-19P(SR) connector are supplied standard, with full customization available.

APPLICATION AREAS

The Tellus-R is purpose-built for advanced seismology and engineering applications, making it a perfect instrument for studying rotational seismic waves:

Earthquake Science: Detecting rotational components of seismic waves for improved source characterization and rupture dynamics.

Structural Engineering: Measuring rotational motions in buildings, bridges, and critical infrastructure for seismic resilience studies.

Seismic Hazard Assessment: Enhancing the accuracy of ground motion prediction models by incorporating rotational data.

Seismological Networks: Integration into modern arrays for six-degree-of-freedom (6-DOF) earthquake monitoring.

Microseismic and Industrial Monitoring: Recording subtle rotational motions in experimental, geotechnical, or industrial environments.
