OVERVIEW

Overview

Quakely-Duo is QuakeLogic’s flagship dual-sensor seismic monitoring instrument. It combines two independent sensing technologies within a single synchronized device: a triaxial MEMS accelerometer and a triaxial velocity sensor (velocimeter). All six channels are simultaneously digitized and synchronized, giving engineers strong-motion acceleration data and low-amplitude velocity data from the same measurement point at the same instant.

The instrument records selectable acceleration ranges of ±2 g, ±4 g, and ±8 g alongside a ±120 mm/s velocity range, with adjustable sampling rates up to 4.8 kHz. Noise performance is better than 25 µg/√Hz on the acceleration channels and better than 20 ng/√Hz (1–20 Hz) on the velocity channels, with a dynamic range of 148 dB at 16 Hz and 136 dB at 400 Hz. GPS and wireless synchronization deliver timing accuracy better than 1 microsecond, so multiple Quakely-Duo units operate as a coherent array for structure-wide measurement campaigns.

Quakely-Duo is built for the field: an IP67 CNC-machined anodized aluminum enclosure, an operating range of –30°C to +50°C, and an internal rechargeable LiPo battery providing up to 5 hours of autonomous operation. Ethernet connectivity, a smartphone interface, and real-time streaming make it compatible with modern seismic monitoring workflows.

Why This Product

Accelerographs excel at capturing strong shaking; seismographs (velocimeters) excel at resolving weak ambient vibrations. Most projects that need both – earthquake monitoring plus ambient vibration testing, operational modal analysis, or microtremor studies – traditionally require two instruments, two data streams, and careful time alignment. Quakely-Duo removes that complexity by integrating both sensor types in one enclosure with all six channels sampled on a common, GPS-disciplined time base.

Positioned above Quakely Pro in the QuakeLogic range, Quakely-Duo is the premium choice when a project specification calls for both strong-motion recording and high-resolution ambient vibration measurement from a single, procurement-ready instrument.

Customer Benefits

  • Captures strong-motion acceleration and low-amplitude velocity simultaneously from one measurement point.
  • Six synchronized channels eliminate time-alignment work between separate accelerograph and seismograph records.
  • GPS and wireless synchronization better than 1 microsecond support multi-unit arrays on bridges, dams, and high-rise buildings.
  • 148 dB dynamic range spans weak ambient vibration through strong earthquake shaking without changing instruments.
  • Real-time streaming, smartphone interface, and Ethernet connectivity integrate with modern monitoring workflows.
  • Included software provides waveform display, FFT, PSD, H/V ratio, digital filtering, unit conversion, and TXT export.
  • IP67 anodized aluminum enclosure and internal LiPo battery support rapid field deployments without site power.

Who Should Use It

Quakely-Duo is appropriate for structural engineers, earthquake engineering consultants, seismic network operators, dam and bridge owners, operators of nuclear and LNG facilities, transportation agencies, universities, and research laboratories that need laboratory-grade acceleration and velocity measurements from a single field-ready instrument.

Applications

  • Earthquake monitoring and permanent seismic networks.
  • Structural health monitoring for buildings, bridges, dams, tunnels, and critical infrastructure.
  • Ambient vibration testing and operational modal analysis of structures.
  • Monitoring of nuclear facilities, LNG facilities, historical buildings, and wind turbines.
  • Industrial equipment vibration monitoring.
  • University teaching and research laboratory measurement campaigns.

QuakeLogic Support

QuakeLogic helps customers confirm the correct measurement ranges, synchronization approach, communications configuration, installation environment, and data-processing workflow. For procurement, QuakeLogic can review the application and provide configuration-specific quotation, documentation, training, and commissioning support.

FAQs

What is Quakely-Duo?
Quakely-Duo is an integrated seismic monitoring instrument that combines a triaxial accelerograph and a triaxial seismograph (velocimeter) in one device, with all six channels simultaneously digitized and GPS synchronized.
What is the difference between an accelerograph and a seismograph?
An accelerograph measures ground or structural acceleration and excels at strong shaking; a seismograph (velocimeter) measures velocity and excels at resolving weak ambient vibrations. Quakely-Duo provides both in one synchronized instrument.
Why combine both sensors in one instrument?
Combining both sensors captures the full amplitude range - from ambient microtremors to strong earthquake motion - from a single measurement point on a common time base, eliminating dual-instrument deployment and time-alignment work.
Can multiple Quakely-Duo units be synchronized?
Yes. GPS and wireless synchronization provide timing accuracy better than 1 microsecond, so multiple units operate as a coherent array for structure-wide campaigns.
Can Quakely-Duo be used for ambient vibration testing and modal analysis?
Yes. The low-noise triaxial velocity sensor and synchronized six-channel recording make it well suited for ambient vibration testing and operational modal analysis of buildings, bridges, and dams.
What software features are included?
The software provides real-time waveform display, FFT, PSD, H/V ratio, digital filtering, equalization, unit conversion, TXT export, data trimming, data splitting, and remote visualization.
