Unlike large-scale seismic networks designed for entire regions, eQUAKE-SMART™ delivers a streamlined, building-specific solution for earthquake early warning and structural monitoring. Purpose-built for individual facilities, this user-friendly system detects seismic activity within seconds and activates essential safety protocols—minimizing risk and maximizing preparedness.
System Overview
eQUAKE-SMART is composed of two key components:
- eQUAKE-ARM: A precision warning sensor featuring a 3-component low-noise seismic accelerometer
- Frequency Range: 0–1000 Hz
- Dynamic Range: ±2g to ±8g
- eQUAKE-SMARTBOX: A centralized Earthquake Warning Control Unit that processes sensor data, triggers alerts, and handles real-time monitoring and recording functions.
Each system includes one SMARTBOX and a minimum of three ARM sensors, with additional sensors added based on building size and complexity. Software for control and visualization is included.
Early Warning – Because Every Second Matters
Seismic waves travel at different speeds. P-waves arrive first and are less destructive, followed by the stronger and more damaging S-waves. The time gap between them increases with distance from the epicenter. eQUAKE-SMART detects the early-arriving P-waves and instantly issues warnings—providing critical seconds to act before severe shaking begins.
Automatic Earthquake Recording
Beyond early warning, eQUAKE-SMART automatically enters recording mode during seismic events. It continuously logs:
- Floor-level motion
- Top-floor acceleration
- Inter-story building displacements
Data is instantly viewable via an intuitive control panel or a secure online platform, enabling immediate analysis and post-event assessment.
